Summentor Project 2025
The Prout Bridge Project will be running a programme during the summer holidays to assist year 6 pupils with the transition from primary to secondary education.
The programme will run over 3 days providing team/confidence building activities and the opportunity to get to know what secondary school life is like. We aim to give the young people an opportunity to get to share any anxieties they may have and talk about them in a relaxed atmosphere with older pupils who have already experienced and overcome worries about starting secondary school.
This project has been very successful in the past and the things young people are worried about have been as small as ‘what do I need in my pencil case’ to ‘how will I know which classroom I need to go to’. Many young people worry about things that they feel are too ‘silly’ to talk about and having this time to relax and talk, enables them to get answers in a safe, non-judgemental environment.
The programme will consist of 2 days at the Prout Bridge Project Building and 1 day at Hooke Court. We will provide mentors for the young people to enable them to have someone they will recognise and who can help them as soon as they enter secondary school.
The project will be staffed by 2/3 targeted youth workers and the days will be as follows:
Day 1: Meet at Prout Bridge Project Building for a day of fun activities. Get to know your mentor.
Day 2: Meet at Prout Bridge Project Building followed by a day of activities at Hooke Court.
Day 3: Final day back at Prout Bridge Project Building to pull together everything we have learnt and to receive certificate for taking part.
