Bountiful Veg at the Young People's Vegetable Patch!

The Young People’s Vegetable Patch - a project generously funded by #Iwill (funded partnership from The National Lottery Community Fund and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) ) and Nature Heals Seed Fund through the Dorset Community Foundation, which has seen the back courtyard at our Prout Bridge building turned into a growing haven, just keeps on flourishing.

The project, which has seen raised beds created and installed in our back courtyard, aims to give the young people who attend our youth clubs the opportunity to learn the skills and have the experience of growing vegetables and to also eat them too!

The beds were made by the fantastic Stefan, with wood purchased from Bridport Building Supplies, and all the materials, seeds and equipment needed to fill the beds and tend to them, was purchased from Little Groves Beaminster, ensuring that we have used local businesses where possible.

Right from the off the young people have enjoyed the project and we are hopefully going to be harvesting some of the produce at Youth Club this week.

This veg patch has certainly brighten up not only our back courtyard but also the young people who come to our youth clubs who have been given another opportunity. Every time you look at the raised beds the vegetables just keep on growing - its like there is magic in the soil!
