SUMMENTOR - supporting young people to transition to secondary school

We have just spent 3 funfilled but very hot days with some amazing young people. We came together with a group of year 6 pupils to talk about what it is going to be like for them when they go to Beaminster School in September. They were joined by some students from Beaminster School who supported them over the 3 days during which they were able to ask questions in a confidential, safe space and by working together, gained confidence and learnt vital communication skills. Together, they completed fun challenges and made new friends at Prout Bridge and spent a hot but enjoyable day at Magdalen Farm. We made tall towers out of newspaper, completed team building and low rope challenges, ate pizzas, made smoothies and dropped egg parachutes!

The project is called Summentor and we run it every year, so if you think your child might benefit next summer, come and have a chat to find out more about it. Thank you all for making it a really fun and enjoyable experience. Good luck next year.
